Mardin is a soap made from olive and wild pistachio oil.It was originally a small town of Mardin, southeastern Turkey.

Orange and green.

Try it! This is a special and particularly suited for the case of hair and scalp problems.

I just returned from a weeklong trip in southeastern Turkey, and I must say the trip was the most fascinating and interesting in the country I’ve done so far. I must admit I did not realize how much there is to see and do, until I read an article in Skylife, the great Turkish Airlines magazine on board and was immediately hooked. Maybe I’ll get lucky one day and be able to write an article for them too. Meanwhile, in a series here in the glamorous grandmother, I will tell you that.

It was also the longest I’ve been on a bus in Turkey. 24 hours from west to east. I could have flown, but where’s the fun in that? As expected, I was the only foreigner and enjoyed the company of my Turkish Kurds, Syrians and other travelers, including a live chicken!

My first stop was in Mardin, Mesopotamia to the window, about 2 hours drive from the border with Syria and Aleppo on the road. Before going into all the heavy stuff of history, castles, monasteries, museums, churches and the pure natural beauty, I said to start with a lighter note, turning his attention to food, money and fashion, all that is another aspect of this amazing part and largely unknown (at least for the average tourist) in the country.

For once, I gave up my usual “eat as little as possible” practice, it would have been a sin not. I had booked a wonderful hotel in Mardin, an ancient stone palace and the only drawback was that the breakfast was mediocre.

I told my driver that I chose for my trip to Hassankeyf, when he pulled the phone, has had a long conversation, and then promised me a surprise.

The surprise turned out to be a stop at the house of a friend, who established a spread for me so I can enjoy the real thing. How is this entertainment? Needless to say, I dug in.

We stopped along the road that Midyat, among other things, is famous for its silversmiths. I could only admire these works of art professionals do. Not only the finest filigree jewelry, but also items like this flower, and even the entire ship. They make beautiful gifts to take home with friends and family.

Back to Mardin, I strolled the streets of the bazaar and stopped at a wonderful fresh scent floating on one of the stores. What lay behind it was “factory” of soap, another famous product of the region.

Of course, a glamorous grandmother can not help noticing what other women wear. Daily rate for women is a matter of local color. Purple is the traditional color and long dresses with jackets without sleeves and a wide belt, richly embroidered with gold and inlaid with silver and sequins are an endless source of pleasure. Add a purple scarf and get a picture of the entire computer, as I said, is brilliant in the sun all day and not just for the night.

I was fortunate to attend a dinner with music in my hotel in Urfa. The version of the evening dresses are even more stunning and every one of the ladies like a queen, as they were entering the garden. A night to remember.
